10th Task: Essay: Critiques to the use of technologies.

The technology is essential part of the life for our society, I want to comment them through these words what means the technology for me, but also a critic regarding the use and the importance that we grant her, referring especially to the use for the study of diverse matters.
For we analyze the problem we need a "wide" concept of technology, so that to demarcate the context in that it will be inserted the work, technology is "the usage and knowledge of tools, techniques, crafts, systems or methods of organization." This is a concept the sufficiently wide thing that can embrace from a pencil, until a space ship, for what I find an appropriate concept for this work.
The technology has allowed to the society to simplify tasks that are more complex, with the purpose they to be executed in a more easy, quicker and cheapest way. Regarding the costs, in a capitalist society we should understand and to define "the time" like a very scarce “good”, for this reason is valuable, for what every time that we decide to execute an action, loses the opportunity to execute other, this is what calls “cost of opportunity" economy. For example nowadays I decided to go to English's class and I lost the opportunity to go to the theater with a friend, that it is an example of opportunity cost. Then this special function of the technology consists in that can reduce the opportunity costs in the measure in that we reduce the times to execute actions. For example, with the use of an automobile, I can get up a little later in the mornings, since due to their speed me the saving extra time that I would take a long time in going toward the same place, but walking.
Regarding the use of the technology for the study ("Law"), for me it has been essential, since thanks to her I can consent in a quick, easy way and at smaller cost to an universe of educational material, doctrine, laws, jurisprudence that allows a complete study of all the pertinent matters. But this use is very limited and basic, in comparison to other careers in that it is used much more the technology, for example an engineer, an architect, etc. nevertheless the above-mentioned, the computer and the Internet allow that the search of information is much quicker, less expensive.
But the problem is that the excessive use of technology, has the necessary consequence of the Depersonalization of our relationships. For example instead of visiting our relatives and friends (in the case of the education to go to a library), we will prefer to communicate with them through a videoconference, saving us the cost of "traveling", or we even use our cellular telephones to call to people that are to some distance meters.

My conclusion is that we should look at the topic of the technology, pondering its positive and negative elements, it is necessary to recognize that it is a mere instrument, a mean more than we have to our disposition, and that means that the technology is what is and not more than that, for what we cannot arrive to the point of replacing our personal relationships for technology, would be to deny to the other one its person quality and also to waste the benefits of living in society, experiencing the same life coordinating your interests with those of the other ones, knowing different people, of which can learn always, and this conclusion taken to the plan of the education means to exclude an education system at distance as main method of study, unless it is only a tool more, a "subsidiary" form of education and on the other hand I would like there to be a recovery (revaluation) of the libraries like place dedicated to the study and the investigation in that we can have a direct contact with the books, (and non files.pdf.doc, etc) a "more sensual" (perceived through the senses) approach to the reading and not merely technological, since never it will be the same thing to play a paper leaf to look at a screen LCD.

9th Post: Freedom: The quality of television in Chile

Every day we listen opinions of the bad quality of Chilean television, and do I believe that it is true the Chilean television it is bad, but is the question why it is bad? The answer can find it to the interior of our society. Since we have a private system of television, the one which economically is negotiated starting from the demand of the society, then that makes it is to surrender what we request, what the town wants, that is to say people want to know what happens to the models, footballers, etc. The television is not more than the reflection of what we are as society, and it doesn't seem that we care a lot that the television educates us, etc.
Now, if what we want is a change that our television is of more quality as for its "contents", the way of financing it cannot be the private one, since being deprived they will always sell the product that blindfolds more, what the populus wants. The solution would be to have a public financing of television, for example through the payment of a specific tax, a bound television to the University, like it was the original project of the law of concessions, on one hand the channel 13 of the Catholic University, the channel 5 of PUCV, and the 11 that it was of the University of Chile (the concession), together to the channel of the State that is TVN. Then the question is: are we willing to change the system of financing of television, or do we prefer to continue with the private system? 8th Task: How green are you?

The truth is that I am not an ecological person, in the sense of the person's typical image in bicycle that recycles all that can, and it avoids to damage the environment to all thing. In spite of that yes I consider that I fulfill certain minimum standards that for the fact of living in society should complete, I eat for example, never to throw away garbage in public places.

But I find that it stops our current society, doesn't pay for cost of contaminating, but rather on the contrary, we always prefer that "another" solves the problem. Then we save ourselves a cost, but we generate a bigger cost for the Society and the State.

Although it is certain there is not a lot of education in this respect, since in the school or in your family they can become trained that it is the correct thing" (ecologically speaking), but if the incentives don't exist to act in a certain way, we don't probably act like we should make it.

This lack of interest is born of the example of the behaviors that make other people, because many times although you know that it is not good for the environment throwing away garbage, you think but everybody makes it"… there is Also other causes and they refer to the subjective valuations toward the things, people don't probably value so much to the environment, like they value its time, (time that they can dedicate to work, to rest, to leave purchases, etc) the money, the love, or other you interest. And this problem has practical relevance for example to the moment to decide among walking in bicycle or in automobile, and the excellent thing is that if I value more to the environment I will go in bicycle, but as the truth it is that our lives are limited, and the society imposes us to carry out many activities in little time, we prefer the speed that can provide us an automobile.

If people were rational as they say the books of Economy, would we probably take care more our environment, will the future home of the new generations be since, but apparently the economy yes is right in something, is the homo economicus selfish, and is to be selfish to be rational"…???? perhaps if, perhaps not.

7th Task Chilean Miners, San Jose Issue

The history of the Chilean miners, the day 5 of August of the 2010 in that 33 miners were buried to 700 meters deep under the earth in the mine San José begins. First there was great shock in the whole country, a lot of sadness and few hopes, nobody believed that they could be saved, all thought that a rescue was impossible. Also all said that the 33 miners were already dead.

After 17 days it happened the wonderful miracle, the miners through the probe sent a paper leaf that had written: "We are well in the refuge the 33 written with red letters. This small message returned the happiness, the trust, the faith, the hope to a whole country.

After all that happiness, the main concern was to know the conditions in that the miners, its feeding and its health were living, with the help of a team of compound professionals for doctors, engineers, miners, the works of shipment of foods and the communication intents began to know the details of the situation.
One of the first questions was the how they were able to survive 17 isolated days, and the answer was: "eating two tuna spoonfuls, every 48 hours", that is incredible.

After some days, the communication is achieved and it was interesting the fact that the miners but that concerned of its situation, they were worried by people that were in the exterior, its wives, children, and the other miners.

Then the most difficult task began: the rescue, and the truth is that precedents of a rescue of these magnitudes didn't exist, for what possibility didn't exist of learning of the experience of developed countries.

Then the rescue was made to the Chilean way", carrying out rehearsals for a medical, military compound team and engineers, they will save the miners through a metallic capsule that will transport them (very similar to an elevator) nicknamed as " Phoenix " that on the average would delay 50 minutes between to lower and to ascend to the surface.

The history finishes after 68 days, with the 33 safe miners, with an entire happy town for its national heroes, but without a doubt the happiest were its families that were waiting for them eagerly, but that in any moment they lost the faith, an unyielding faith, an iron faith.

5th Task ; My favourite places in santiago

The truth is that I don't know a lot of Santiago, although I live here, I believe that it always interests me more to know the distant thing that the near things. But in spite of that, more than the place, interests me much more people with which am sharing in some place, for what the good moments in that I have passed it very well, are not necessarily places that it would recommend, but yes they are places that we remember with love next to my friends. One of those places is "La Piojera", a very amusing place to share with the friends, where you can drink swigs and to eat traditional foods, forget the hot dog, French fries, hamburgers, because that won't find there, if you go, you have to be willing to eat turnovers, hard eggs, pig ham, and also to drink the characteristic " earthquake ".

Another place that I recommend is since the brown " Caburga " that is an appropriate place to go after English's classes, it is located in the Patio Bellavista very near to the Law school of University of Chile.. It is a place go to drink a coffee, drink, or some swig, also sells some rich turnovers and pizzas to very convenient prices, overalls if you are of the University of Chile. If you want go to converse with somebody, this is the place.

If you want a more family atmosphere, you can also visit the "Club Gran Avenida, where you can enjoy of rich roasted, swigs, live music, competitions, karaoke, everything in a very pleasant atmosphere.

I have many favorite movies, to choose one is very difficult, among my favorite ones: Réquiem for to Dream, Cinema Paradiso, A Clockwork Orange, Dead Poets Society, schindler's list, but like I have to choose to a, I will comment them about the movie "the best of youth"(La Meglio Gioventù) of the Italian director Marco Tullio Giordana.

3rd Task :Mapuche Issue

The mapuche is a town Chilean native that in the language mapudungún earth people mean (for the Mapuche, the word doesn't exist in plural "mapuches", because that is a degeneration of its language, che, non ches only exists), they are the direct ancestors of what today knows as Chilean, for that that in some sense, they could be our grandparents.
The problem mapuche in a very wide sense is that them (or us) they don't have a recognition on the part of the juridical system, but apparently they neither want that, because they are not considered Chilean, but rather simply mapuche. But what is even more serious is that the government qualifies them as " terrorists " and that without a doubt is one of the most serious imputations that can be made to a person.

I believe that I cannot give a solution to the problem neither anything of that, but I can only say that this government in particular and the media, they transform to this important topic into a joke, a joke, a true Roman circus, apparently the " masse " has a good time when seeing like the gladiators die (mapuche) in hands of wild wild animals ("the police").

2nd Task: a country you´d like to visit.

I would love to know Germany, since I consider that it is a country of a very developed culture, their universities, their people, their landscapes. I would love to learn German, and to be able to study in some University some Posgrado in Law. But I would like to know the city of Köln because I have a friend that lives near there, it is a very nice German that I would like go to visit, he is a kind, honest, amusing person, regarding which I have very good memories.

But I would like to know the beautiful German landscapes, the rivers Rhin and Danubio, the Alps, the German castles, I would Also like to go during the date in that takes place "Oktoberfest", and to enjoy the best beers in the world, where you will be able to drink of the most varied, of all colors and flavors. And not only that, but rather it is also an opportunity to know their beautiful women jeje.

Nevertheless the above-mentioned, would like me to go to Germany but also to other countries of Europe, and the good thing is that you can travel Europe in train at very low costs, and I find that very attractive because the ideal thing is to know several countries and I don't only unite.

Second semester 1st Task

Hello to all! I will begin to speak about my experience of the last semester, regarding the bad things of my personal life, the worst thing that happened to me to be in " Iloca " during the earthquake, believes that that is a negative experience that I will forget never, the faces of those people, and an entire destroyed town, I believe that I prefer not to write about that.

Changing topic, regarding the academic thing the last semester was very complicated regarding the studies, a lot of work, very difficult subject, but in spite of that I learned many interesting things. I believe that English's course is very amusing, because I forget for moments that I study Law, and we carry out English's course in that it is shared a lot with the class partners and also in that know people that study different things as arts, biochemistry, etc. But the best in that course they are the activities in classes in that you can converse and to play with your partners, this is novel because generally in another type of courses one doesn't have a good time a lot.
I decided take this course again, because it was a very pleasant experience, but I hope this semester is even better, I hope to know people of other careers with which it is it can share and to converse about interesting topics.

11 Task:Blogging Experience.

Yes, it has been interesting to be able to write in English about diverse topics, I believe that it is essential part of the learning of a language the knowledge to write well.

The good thing is that thanks to this type of activities, the teacher can recognize which the most frequent errors are in the students, and this way to correct our errors directly.

For what I believe that it has been a good experience for my, useful.

But more than that, I liked collective experience of the course, sharing with new people and with the teacher, and this mainly because it is a course of few people contrary to the courses of my career, for what the experience becomes more intimate, nearer with the teacher and with the partners inside the class.

The blog believes that it is a more individual experience, but you can share since with the other ones it is public, nevertheless the above-mentioned prefers the live classes, the direct interaction with people more than for via electronic, I believe that that is the worst in the blog, working in an individual way, and the best thing is that you practice and little by little you get used to write in English.

And to finish I mean that the course in general was very amusing, I passed it very well, I learned, and I met very pleasant people. The only bad of the course and that it should be improved it is the schedule that stops my it is very bad, I believe that that was the worst in the course in general. Perhaps it would be good to make a class a week but of two hours of classes (suggestion).

I will recommend the course to some friends, and I hope to be able to continue in him the next semester.

Final Fantasy XIII

This picture represents the main character of the videogame Final Fantasy XIII, I am surprised graphic quality of its characters a lot, the colors, the details, it is interesting that the main character is a woman, a beautiful woman but at the same time very strong, aggressive, with a gun in his hands jumping for the airs. But the best in this image is that I am able to remember with alone to look at it the history of the game, the history of the characters, their personality, etc.

The interesting of this game is that progressively you know more than the history of the characters, their development, abilities, etc. AND thanks to their video quality and the spectacular sound band the experience is very similar to watch a movie, but the difference is that you are the main character and that means to control diverse characters, not only to one.

I compared to this game with a movie, for their spectacular quality, but the difference is its extension, a movie in general has a duration of two or three hours. This game and all the Final Fantasy in general have a long duration that occurs long hours of amusement and in certain way it achieves you to identify yourself more with the characters and with the history, for that that this game you can assimilate more than to a movie, to a series of great quality. This game has a duration of more than 100 hours.

I wanted to comment this with you AND now I can only tell them that I recommend them this game for their great history and their film quality, having a spectacular sound band distributed in 4 CDS, and having the game in their entirety a sound 5.1 DTS. So don't doubt to buy it.

I admit that I do not listen very much musical in company to others, prefer the intimacy of it is to listen only with a good breeding animal of portable music with headphones, or with my equipment, but the problem is that I like to listen loudly (Maybe I am deaf) and prefer not bothering the others. Now I want to refer a bit to the content of the song, many legends exist it brings over of the foundation of the song, of the cause Mercury he wrote this song, about which he was thinking, that things were happening to him in his life. First I want to clarify that the author never revealed the cause of the song, the prefirió that every person does an opinion to herself brings over of what he says. Some you understand it as an exhibition of the personal life of the author, due to the fact that in these years it had his first homosexual pair, I do not share this interpretation, because to interpret it this way, I would leave many parts of the song without explanation, I believe that the song represents the murder that a man committed, and it is because of it that later in the song calls "Bismillah" (God in Arab) and the angels to recover his soul that her has Satan: “Spare him his life from this monstrosity-Easy come easy go-,will you let me go- Bismillah! no-,we will not let you go-let him go”

My favourite piece of technology

The Playstation 3 is one of my favorite pieces of technology. The PS3 is a console of video games, which uses the new system of discs Blu-ray. But ps3 is not only a console of video games, is the whole center of entertainment for the home, since you can guard on his hard disk all your music in mp3, your photographies, your videoes, you have access to Internet WIFI, to sail along Internet and also to play in it ties against persons of the whole world. My games of ps3 favorites are: Uncharted, Final Fantasy XIII, Soul Calibur IV, Pro evolution, and others. Liberty Leading the People

The conversation topic is a little complicated for my, because the truth is that to study I don't use any page especially, since generally I read books and I don't use information of pages of internet, but anyway I will speak to them of the page it is "www.leychile.cl", is a very useful page, because it contains the whole up-to-date legislation, and the law changes every day, for what is good for not having to spend so much money buying every year the codes civilian, penal, of the work, etc. One of the main functions is the one of "downloading" the law in different formats, for example: pdf, word, txt, etc.

I believe that the main section of the page is “normas destacadas”, in her they found the requested laws, the codes of the republic, agreements, the last published laws, etc.

Another interesting part is that of the international treaties, in the page we can find all the international treaties taken place by Chile, be already bilateral or multilateral, they can look for them entering the name of the country and the year in which Chile celebrated the treaty.

The page is not probably interesting for people that don't study Law, but I recommend even this way them the place for they need to read some law, since in this they will always find the most up-to-date thing.

THE NIGHT OF THE EARTHQUAKE

This night of the earthquake, we was of vacations with my family in “ILOCA”, the moment of the earthquake was terrible. In this instant we were in a house next to the sea, probably to a distance of 5-10 meters, which initially was something positive of the walk, ended turning into a tragedy.

It was approximately 3:30, I am not sure, but actually I don’t want to remember it, we wake all up because of the movements of the land, and the first thing that happened was that the light was cut, immediately the things moved sharply of a side for other one, good-bye cooks, refrigerator, television, etc.

We all were nervous, with the hope that the earthquake was finishing soon, but the minutes were happening and the land was not stopping, they were hours above of a "TAGADA" (though actually they were 3 minutes according to the information of the mass media).

Well, after everything, the people entered panic, they all were starting, in pajamas, or since be, I after several minutes without knowing that to do, to join the collective hysterics, or to remain where it was, and well, was out of the house looking attentivly at the sea when my cousin realizes that the sea begins to destabilize approaching in direction towards us, in this moment the carabineers passed shouting that please "rise to the hills". Between the earthquake and the moment in which we raise ourselves to the car to go towards the hill, they happened about 10 to 15 minutes, maybe due to the fear we paralyze ourselves or do not be, but we do not react rapidly.

In end the following day, we go down the hill (we had sheltered in a cemetery that did not suffer damages), and don’t find anything of anything of the house, good-bye purse, identity card, school pass, but we were thrilled, since we had survived.

Hi, my name is Abel Riquelme Guzmán, I am a student of the school of laws of the University of Chile, and want to comment to them that I have created this blog with the intention of relating to my companions of the course of English.
